Okay people, I’ll admit that I’ve been slipping a bit with my blog. Please forgive me. I feel horrible for limiting your event information. L I know that you loving and beautiful people accept my apology. Now, let’s move forward.

I visited one of my favorite sites, www.hipcalendar.com, and picked out some great highlights for you. Here’s a list of the many great events happening in and around Savannah this month:

OCTOBER 11

Come experience a one-of-a-kind event! Five samples of American-made, single-origin chocolates have been expertly paired with unique wines. A sommelier and chocolatier will lead you through the tasting. Presented by The Chocolate Lab and National Distributing. 21 and over only, please.

AWOL's monthly open mic spoken word poetry event features live performances from local artist in a profanity-free, youth-friendly space.

MadMonday: Where the Music Lives  6:30 pm - @The Club at Savannah Harbor 21 Resort Dr.

Music, munchies & martinis with Savannah’s own big band, Jeremy Davis and the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra! Live at the Westin’s glass-atrium Club Pavilion each third Monday this fall. Celebrate the great “American Songbook” Big Band style in this unique Jazz-club-style setting: VIP seating with table

SCAD Presents Ingrid Michaelson Fall Acoustic Tour with Special Guest Sugar + the Hi-Lows

SOLOISTS: Ann Marie McPhail (soprano), Joshua Carswell (tenor); co-winners of the 2012 American Traditions Competition Listen to some of the most upbeat music from the orchestral repertoire, featuring an All-American cast of composers!

OCTOBER 20

Historic Savannah Foundation Annual Gala 8:00 p.m. - 11:00p.m. @Emmet Park  East Bay St.

Emmet Park will be the setting for Historic Savannah Foundation’s twenty-first Gala. The grassed alley is shaded by large Live Oaks and was once the site of the old City Exchange building. We hope you will be able to join us as we celebrate Savannah's heritage!

OCTOBER 23

Green Scene   5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.  @SEED Eco Lounge  39 Montgomery St.

Green Scene is USGBC-GA Savannah Branches monthly networking event. This event is free and open to anyone interested in learning more about green building practices. Come on out the fourth Tuesday of every month to enjoy drink specials and heavy hors d'oeuvres while meeting local professionals.

Top Teens of America Open Mic Night Auditions  6:30 p.m.- 8 p.m. @the May St. YMCA

Come out and register and present the piece that you would like to perform at TTA's Open Mic Night on November 3, 2012. The tickets for the event are $5. You may purchase tickets for friends and family members at the audition. For more information, email wordsconsumeme@gmail.com

OCTOBER 25

If you didn't get enough of TED and want to keep the energy going, come out to ThincSavannah and get your networking and TED Talks on! We'll be having monthly get togethers on the last Thursday of each month showcasing a different TED Talks video with opportunities for discussion and networking.

Spitfire Saturday Open Mic & Showcase   8:00 pm - 10:30 pm @Muse Arts Warehouse

Spitfire Saturday is Spitfire's once a month open mic that incorporates a mixture of music, poetry, visual art, and many other artistic forms of expression. With featured Spoken word and visual artist every month, this is a show you don't want to miss!!!!

OCTOBER 28

Baggage Open Mic @ Billy's Place  7:00pm - 10:30 pm @Billy's Place at Mcdonough's  20 East Perry St.

Get ready for a cool and fun night of poetry just for the 21 and up crowd. This is the place to leave ya' bags at the mic and enjoy one of Billy's famous martinis. Also, indulge your taste buds with their wide selection of Tapas, draft beer, and fine wines. $7 donation @ door. Hosted by Spitfire
